28. January 28, 2010

This picture isn't very good sorry, hopefully there will be more exciting pictures in the future.
I went and saw our school's play again, but was running out of ideas for taking pictures of the program...
So... you get this.
My room is often frigid, so my loving parents bought me this little heater...
I love it!
I had to use it for the first time this year, which makes me sad- because it's so cold
but happy cause I get to use it :)

This picture has absolutely no artistic purpose, I just had to put it on.
This is Zac Olsen, he is in my Radio class...
This is going to sound mean, very mean, but I am slightly terrified of him.
One the 2nd day of school we had to bring something for show and tell...
He brought his rabbit backpack, which is weird but I would have been fine with...
Then he told us his favorite taste was Cottontail... still weird but not terrifying...
Then he told me he was going to eat me like he does rabbits.
He told my friend he was going to skin her alive
And my other friend he was going to roast her...
I feel like I have some right to be afraid...

He also likes to be called bunny boy, by everyone EXCEPT me...
I missed that memo.

As I mentioned before our school's drama program is spectacular, magnificent, astonishing, and incredible.

Along with many other things.
Right now they are performing Les Miserables...
and it is FANTASTIC!!
I went and saw it for the second time today and I still love it. :)
We have some amazing actors, with amazing voices, at our school
I'm still in awe.
The girls in the play were amazing as well!
I am very sad to the seniors go this year, next years drama program just won't be the same.
Anyways, as I said it is amazing I love it!
In fact I love it so much I'm also going tomorrow for young womens,
as well as closing night...
4 out of the 8 days they are performing it :)

Well, I don't know if I mentioned this with my last bowling picture but,
I frequent the bowling alley.
Every Monday, almost...
I'm there almost as often as I'm at Macey's

Sorry this picture isn't the greatest, but you'll get over it :P

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.” ~Charles R. Swindoll

Number the Stars was one of my all time favorite books growing up.
It seems like I read it at least twice a year, every year, until 7th grade.
Then I just stopped, but I have a chance to reread it today.
I am still amazed by the courage Danish people had, and how loyal they were to their friends and country.
I know this book is fictional, but there were stories very similar to this...
They may not have been written down and those who fought so bravely may have never been recognized...
So I would like to tell all those unknown heroes how amazed I am by them, and how I will look up to them forever.

"It was only in the fairy tales that people were called upon to be so brave, to die for one another.
Not in real-life Denmark." ~Annemarie, Number the Stars (Who I think is the hero of the book)

I had my first Futsal game today,
I didn't actually get to put my cleats back on
But I am so excited to play again.
To get away from the drama and tension of high school, and just be able to play.
So here is a picture of my well used cleats.
They are, by far, my favorite pair I've had.
I have had many learning experiences and unforgettable moments in these cleats...
And I have no desire to get new ones :)

Today me and my two friends went and saw our high school's musical...
It was FANTASTIC!
I have never seen Les Miserables before and it is now one of my favorite musicals.
I might be a little bias, because I knew all of the people in the play,
But it was so well done and I could not believe it!
So thank you, drama program, for a wonderful night!

"Whether true or false, what is said about men often has as much influence on their lives, and particularly on their destinies, as what they do." ~Les Miserables

At our school you are allowed to go off-campus for lunch,
But because I am a sophomore and I don't actually have a car of my own...
And I'm not allowed to drive with any of my friends in the car,
I have never gone off -campus for lunch...
Until today.
A few girls from my ward and one of our friends decided to go to Kneaders for lunch.
It was delicious!

It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?" ~Winnie the Pooh

These are some old pictures, I took them a few months ago...
But they will still help me remember today...
I spent a lot of time thinking about what I want to do with my life today,
and I came up with one main life goal, I want to go to Europe, especially France.
I want to take a nice big camera there someday and take pictures of a beautiful world that's new too me.
That is one of my life goals...

"Sensible people of this world will say
Fol-de-rol and fiddle dee dee all the wishes in the world are poppy cock...
But the world is full of zanies and fools who don't believe in 'sensible rules' and won't believe what 'sensible people' say.. and because these 'daft' and 'dewey eyed dopes' keep building up 'impossible hopes' impossible things are happening every day!" ~The Fairy Godmother for the 1997 Cinderella movie

Sorry I know this is not the best picture and you can tell I was behind a window... but I really liked it.
A lot of people say that this old barn is ugly and a rats nest, but I think it is beautiful.
It reminds me of the simpleness that we used to live in, and for that I think it is beautiful.

"Human beings do not live forever. We live less than the time it takes to blink an eye, if we measure our lives against eternity... I learned a long time ago, that a blink of an eye in itself is nothing. But the eye that blinks, that is something. A span of life is nothing. But the man who lives that span, he is something. He can fill that tiny span with meaning, so its quality is immeasurable though its quantity may be insignificant. Do you understand what I am saying? A man must fill his life with meaning, meaning is not automatically given to life. It is hard work to fill one's life with meaning... A life filled with meaning is worthy of rest. I want to be worthy of rest when I am no longer here." ~ Chaim Potok (The Chosen)

18. January 18, 2010

For the 18th there won't be a picture, yet.
For a school project I had to make "A Day in The Life of Shelbie" video.
So after I finish that and it is all edited, that will be my 'picture'.

Well the video was horrible and extremely boring... so Jan. 18th will not have a picture.
 Sorry about that...

17. January 17, 2010

I reread this book, probably for the 50th time.
During elementary school I read this book so many time I've lost count.
It's well used, the pages are falling out and there are several pages bent in the upper corner

The book tells a story of a girl who died because she had the courage to tell two gunmen that she believed in God.
I love the story.
It was written by her mother, months after her death.
She tells about her daughter, Cassie, and all the changes and phases she went through in life.

"she answered the question "Do You Believe In God?" ... and she said yes."

16. January 16, 2010

This weekend we had a YW sleepover (retreat) for those who finished the Book of Mormon by November 31.
I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't excited. It turned out to be so much fun and I am so happy I went :)
Here's some picture of some the girls that went...

The results of 63 bobby-pins
This was my hair, after I took it out. It looked a lot better in person but it was pretty.

"Do you know what it's all about
Are you brave enough to figure out
Know that you could set your world on fire
If you are strong enough to leave your doubts...
She will go and set the world on fire
No one ever thought she could do that."

This is a necklace one of my childhood dolls has, I've always loved it

" The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek therefore, not to find out Who You Are, but seek to determine Who You Want to Be."
~ Neale Donald Walsch

I know this has nothing to do with this picture but still...

14. January 14, 2010

I love playing the piano, though not for people or when asked.
I love playing the piano for myself.
It brings comfort, takes away pain and gets rid of my headaches.
I love the piano because it brings me music.
I love music because it is beautiful
I love music because I can always find a song that describes my feelings at that moment.
Where would I be without music.

Well I couldn't decide on one quote, so here's a few:

"Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.”

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent”
~Victor Hugo

Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul”
~Plato

“Music takes us out of the actual and whispers to us dim secrets that startle our wonder as to who we are, and for what, whence, and whereto.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.”
~Angela Monet

"We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.”

13. January 13, 2010

This is Warner, he is my young womens leader's son.
He is one of the cutest little boys I've ever met (outside my family)...
I had the chance to babysit him while his parents were at ward temple night,
it was tons of fun

I really liked this picture but it was really dark so I tried to lighten it up and it isn't all that cute now...
because it is fuzzy and stuff, but he is cute right?

He kept holding my hand, it was cute :)

He was asking if his mommy left through that door.

We were playing peek-a-boo

I made him cookies before I went

They look and tasted good :)

The final product.

This picture serves as a quote and a picture today.

The view from my window

"One of my favorite things to do when I have time off is to just watch the world go by.
Whenever I get a chance, I spend time just observing the planet below.
It turns out you can see a lot more from up here than you might expect...
When I look out a window that faces straight down, it is actually pretty hard to see the horizon—
you need to get your face very close to the window.
So what you see out a window like that is a moving patch of ground "  ~http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/EdLu/

Me and two of my friends went and saw Avatar, we had an amazing time and tons of fun.
I love going out with my friends, the are awesome, and I love them tons, without them I'd be lost.

“Good friends are like stars.... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there”

“Friends are angels who lift our feet when our own wings have trouble remembering how to fly.”

“True friends are like diamonds, precious and rare. False friends are like leaves, found everywhere.”

"Even though we've changed and we're all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we'll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we're not all still friends.”
